LifeNetwork Foundation running Misinformation Ads in Malta
Updated: Feb 22, 2022
LifeNetwork Foundation Malta, an affiliate of Agenda Europe and Heartbeat International, is paying for advertisments on search engines to misinform people in Malta who search online for emergency contraception.
The ad pretends to be a link to a website that gives information on emergency contraception and abortion, and yet the website it links to - a website for LifeLine, a helpline run by LifeNetwork - contains numerous lies about emergency contraception, inclucing a claim that emergency contraception could "end an early pregnancy" which is scientifically proven to be untrue.
Worse still, LifeNetwork is in receipt of a grant from the Government of Malta to run its "services." This means that Maltese taxpayer money is possibly being used to run such misinformation campaigns designed to trick people in Malta into not using emergency contraception.
Women, girls, and any other person who may need emergency contraception to prevent pregnancy should be given factual information about their options. Levonorgestrel and Ulipristal based morning after pills are available in pharmacies in Malta and Gozo without the need for a doctor's prescription. Our Family Planning Advisory Service (FPAS) can also guide people in Malta on how to purchase emergency contraception, and help answer any questions they may have about the medicines. FPAS can be contacted on phone 27780037 or through online chat at www.fpas.mt.
